Connecting UVC External Camera Hardware

iPad OS 17 introduces support for UVC (USB Video Class) devices as an external Camera to an iPad with a USB C connections. As you can see from the pictures below there are quite a few options for the types of devices that can be connected. Currently, only a single external camera can be accessed by DirectorMonitor, Please note: some USB Web Cameras will give emit an audio feedback loop when the speaker is selected as the audio output and the web cam the audio input. Muting the audio will automatically mute the audio for the camera the next time it is connected. In the Settings dialog set the value of “Use Global Audio Mute Setting“ to OFF to enable this feature (the default is OFF)
Using a USB C Hub or Thunderbolt Dock
DirectorMonitor has limited support using a USB C hub or Thunderbolt Dock for accessing the video from the UVC device. Using a hub may cause audio routing issues for both audio in and audio out settings. iPadOS makes the determination of the correct audio sources for the and VideoViewer Pro has limited capabilities to re-route the audio. Tapping the mute icon will display the audio dialog allowing the selection of the audio output (speaker, AirPods, Bluetooth headphones, etc. using the AirPlay icon on the left side of the dialog. Muting the audio can be toggles using the mute button on the right side of the dialog. Below the display of the Audio input and output the volume may be adjusted.
