BLACK MAGIC DESIGN’S ATEM MINI FAMILY OF SWITCHErS

Blackmagic Design has taken the video creative industry by storm in their release of the ATEM Mini family of Switchers. Each switch type bring a range of features and capabilities to match the needs of the creatives. DirectorStudio takes advantage of these capabilities by allowing a comprehensive integration with the “Mini” family. Although BlackMagic makes additional High end ATEM switchers DirectorStudio has limited and untested compatibility with them

as well as all ATEM defined macros.

The Control Board allows creating a customized layout of the ATEM commands and Macros. Additionally Action buttons and HomeKit buttons may be included in the layout. Also, if multiple ATEMs are configured each can have a different Control Board (see Preferences in DirectorStudio Overview for details). Lastly, more details on editing the control board is available at Editing the Control Board in the help.

Configuring the Control Board is easy, start bu selecting the Control Board editing button or “Edit Control Board” Menu option from the Monitor context menu.

Simply Drag an ATEM control, ATEM Macro, Action or HomeKit button from the left panel onto the Control Board panel on the right.

To add an Action button, click the + button on the left panel with the Action tab selected. The Action editor will slide into view allowing you to name the button and add a select group of action to be executed when the Action button is pressed.

Create complex Actions that run a series of ATEM Command or Macros as an button on DirectorStudio’s control board. Actions like these can also be created as Ordered or Ad Hoc slides to allow the Action to be performed automatically as a part of the presentation slide sequence.

ATEM Switchers

DirectorStudio has been tested with the following

• ATEM Mini

• ATEM Mini Pro and ATEM Mini Pro ISO

• ATEM Mini Extreme and ATEM Mini Extreme ISO

ISO version has the advantaged capability of recording each video output along with the audio and program output and a Divinci Resolve project file, DirectorStudio has no additional functionality for the ISO version.

Using the ATEM Mini with Febon UVC device

When paired with the Febon UVC device, the HDMI output from the ATEM Mini can be viewed directly in DirectorStudio. Please see the details on the Febon UVC Device.

When viewing the Multiview with in DirectorStudio, the display allows menu and touch interaction to select sources, start and stop recording and streaming, directly with the output display.
